Keep Alert: Monitor Your Alertness with AI
Keep Alert is a free utility and tools application developed by Ashton Cofer for the iPhone platform. It utilizes artificial intelligence and the TrueDepth Camera on iPhone X or newer models to monitor the user's face and alert them when their alertness has been disrupted.
The app works by placing the phone in a secure location pointing towards the user's face and clicking "Begin Session". Keep Alert then uses a combination of the TrueDepth Camera and Front Facing Camera to monitor various factors such as blinking speed, head position, and eye gaze. During the initial few minutes of a session, the app establishes baseline thresholds for these factors.
If Keep Alert detects that the user's alertness has decreased, it will audibly warn them. This can be due to a slower blink speed, stationary eye and head position, and increased blink frequency. The app also alerts the user if they close their eyes or nod their head forward.
To end a session, the user can simply click "End Session". It's important to note that all data is deleted at the end of each session, and no personal data leaves the device.
Additionally, Keep Alert offers an Illuminate Mode feature, which illuminates the user's face using the phone screen, allowing the app to function in low-light conditions.
